As we mark the 250th anniversary of America's Declaration of Independence, I'm reminded of the courage it took for the original 13 colonies to choose a new path. I can only imagine how exciting—and uncertain—that journey must have been. Seven years later, their perseverance led to the United States being recognized as an independent nation.
